Covington, Perkins Coie, Paul Weiss and now Jenner & Block. Those are the law firms that have been subjected to Trumpian Executive Orders designed to bankrupt the firms — or at least bring them to their knees.
Though the specific terms of the Executive Order are not yet known, according to reporting by American Lawyer, the order references former Jenner partner Andrew Weissmann — former lead prosecutor in Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel’s Office, that Trump has previously attacked.
White House Staff Secretary Will Scharf said, “We’ve taken action against a number of law firms that have participated either in the weaponization of government, the weaponization of the legal system for political ends, or have otherwise engaged in illegal or inappropriate activities.”
Jenner has yet to comment on the EO. And the rest of Biglaw waits to see if they’ll be next to suffer the president’s wrath.
